Mostar is famous for the impressive Ottoman–style bridge spanning the Neretva river, which was destroyed during the war in Bosnia and Hertzegovina but subsequently rebuilt. Mostar is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Take in the buzz of the local bazaar, and have a great shopping experience. You will not be disappointed. Visit Medugorje (optional for parties wishing to visit), a site of spiritual interest since 1981 when the virgin Mary is reported to have appeared to local children, and see the Mount of Appearance. Head to Pocitelj, a fascinating fortified town, with its scattered homes and a beautiful mosque. We visit the Blagaj Tekija monastery which was built around 1520, with elements of Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean style architecture - a Bosnian national monument. A wonderful day of East and West.

We started out staying our first night in Croatia by staying in a condo in the Dyoclrcian palace. The next morning we completed the walking tour of Split then proceeded to Moststar. I saw that bridge fall into the river when shelled during the war. We had dinner within sight of it. It was a wonderful visit. The next morning we continued to Sarajevo. We first visited the tunnel. It surprised me that it was so close to the airport. The brief visit to Bosnia ended when our bus dropped us off at our rented vacation house in Bol. Gecko tour is definitely top notch.
5 stars.

Booked 2 weeks in advance. Was cancelled at just over 24 hours notice and after the full payment was taken, leaving us no time to book an alternative and still having to wait for the refund. Initial message from Gecko Tours blamed us for cancelling. When we pressed for a reason, they said "technical reasons". So not reliable.

We did the day tour from Split with Gecko Tours. Our driver was Marin and was very informative but a small head microphone may have been useful as the people sitting in the 3rd row of the van had trouble hearing the information Marin was delivering. We were escorted to the pick up point and told of the direction to our accommodation when dropped off. The tour was very diverse involving three stops, all with interesting history and sights.
