Based on the official photo for this activity which shows a smiling couple relaxing on bench seating on a normal boat drinking cocktails, as well as the promise that this is a "water taxi ride" where the "driver meets you in arrivals at Split airport" and provides "complimentary beverages," I paid the high price for what I thought would be a civilized and quick ride to Hvar. Instead, I was told to meet the skipper at a closed restaurant near the dock that was a 20 minute walk with luggage from the airport. The skipper was 20 minutes late (with no prior communication) and his inflatable speedboat needed air. As a result, he took us 9 miles in the opposite direction of Hvar to get his hand pump. Seriously, it was a handpump like the kind you would use to pump up an SUP. Instead of seats, the boat had a long bench that looked like a padded balance beam with handles. The skipper told us to straddle the padded beam and hang on so as to not fall off the boat. The skipper also gave us waterproof jackets with hoods because we would get wet, he said. When we finally had the boat pumped up we headed to Hvar and hung on for dear life on the bumpy and occasionally scary ride for well over an hour. The entire experience took well over 2 hours, not counting the 20 minute delay in arrival. Also, there were no beverages as advertised. You can imagine how miserable and disappointing this was after 18 hours of traveling and no sleep. In short, we would have been so much better off taking a taxi to the ferry and then ferrying to Hvar. The only positive is that the skipper was nice, and the service was willing to move the pick up time to accommodate our delayed flight.
