Cook with Wasantha

We had a great experience today . started with a trip to the market for veggie and fresh tuna . very interesting and everyone so friendly cookery course was superb . we cooked 6 curries from scratch. was hands on and very interactive and informative . at the end we sat down and enjoyed the fruits of our labour !! the curries were so fresh and absolutely delicious - best sri lankan food had all holiday . i recommend this cookery course to everyone / it’s a great experience and the food you eat is amazing .

This was an immersive experience into Sri Lankan cooking - right from choosing the vegetables and fish to the elaborate (yet simple) process of cooking. Being an Indian, I was expecting a certain level of similarity with the use of spices. However, I was completely amazed with the way Wasantha used her own twist in using those spices to dish out some delicacies. My personal favourite amongst all the dishes (4 veggies, 1 tuna and 1 chicken) we made was the "Avocado curry" which is supposedly one of Wasantha's signature recipes - it was a celestial dance of all heavenly flavours and I can't recommend it enough. All the dishes were a divine treat to my Indian taste buds and of course my wife (a South African national) enjoyed the whole experience as much as I did. When it was time to eat, Wasantha volunteered to babysit our almost 2yr old son so that we could eat peacefully :)

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Fruit & veg market, fish market, and learning to cook six curries (some wet, some dry) + samba rice. We've lived in Asia for ages now, but still learned a many new things about ingredients specific to Sri Lanka and how to adapt the recipes to items we can get elsewhere. Everyone involved was really lovely -- warm, very patient, and informative. Especially with our 11yo son. Just an all around great time. Highly recommend!
