    The Udawalawe Dam is a large irrigation dam in Udawalawe, in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. The dam consists of an embankment section and a gravity section, combining the total dam length to approximately 3.9 km (2.4 mi).     Elephants that are wounded or orphaned are temporarily cared for at the Udawalawe Transit Home in Sri Lanka before being released back into the wild. The Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation manages it and provides a protected setting where elephants may get specialized care, medical attention, and interaction with other elephants. Visitors may see the elephants from a safe distance while learning more about their conservation efforts and habits. The transit home's ultimate purpose is to release the elephants back into the wild, where they may live naturally and improve the ecology as a whole.

The park is great by nature. Sure, you never have the guarantee to see the animals, if you want to guarantee you should go to a zoo. Nevertheless, we were a little disappointed when we Spend First 30Min, because we could see almost no animals. Shortly a few buffalos at the beginning, After that we so plenty of Elephants it make Our safari Worth . All in all nice, but for the whole ride (about 4 hours each way and then 3 hours in the park) it was a bit too little for us. The driver was very helpful and nice
