    Each adventure begins in this restored plantation house originally built in the 1700s. The Museum tells the powerful story Trace Wilson who was born into slavery on the property in 1818 and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. You will see depictions of what life was like on a plantation and learn about the customs, traditions, lifestyle and stories that earned Sint Maarten the nickname ‘The Friendly Island.’  After a brief orientation, embark the Sky Explorer for the approximately 25-minute ride to the top of Sentry Hill, St. Maarten’s highest elevation at 1,125 feet. A series of platforms encircle the mountaintop showcasing 360-degree views of the whole island including vistas of neighboring islands Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barts and Anguilla. When you are ready to descend simply board the Sky Explorer for the scenic trip down the mountain. Enjoy exploring the Estate and sampling St. Maarten delicacies, snacks and beverages at the Emilio’s Restaurant.

We arrived and first had to provide all personal data including photo without privacy policy via a barcode and our mobile phone. After we had done this in 10 minutes per nose, we were allowed to pay at the ticket counter. After a nice but incompetent lady had told us three times that our credit card was not working, we drove unfinished things quite acidified to the next restaurant to pay for our food there with the supposedly non-working credit card. Aha. Conclusion: back home, we had to find out that the entrance fee was debited in full. We're still trying to get our money back today.

This was a great experience with an awesome view. We found it to be calming and romantic. As someone with low tolerance for thrilling experiences, this was just the right amount of thrill I could handle. We forgot to go to the museum because we thought we had to do the ride first but ask questions. The staff members were very receptive and guided us. Overall I would do it again.

Views are stunning. you can easily spend 3-4 hours enjoying 360 view of the island. We took cable chair both directions and felt that was good enough for us.
