As darkness falls, the boat moors at Outback Pioneers' river camp for a 2-course stockman’s dinner around the campfire. Our bush poet charms the crowd. After dinner watch the ‘Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show’ – a movie in the open-air riverbank theatre. Relaxing night. Sunset beautiful, dinner tasty and poetry delightful. Very well organised and the "dad jokes" very funny.

A wonderful Outback experience- the bus driver Steve collected us from our accommodation and kept us entertained with some good old Aussie humour as well as some interesting information about the area. We were welcomed at the jetty and enjoyed the boat trip and commentary up the river. We returned to an area set out like a drovers camp and enjoyed poetry and stories from a very knowledgeable gentleman (sorry I forgot your name!) It was an evening of chatting around the campfire and lots of laughs- and the food was amazing. They catered for my vegetarian/gluten free diet and we all ate way too much - it was so delicious. Then we watched an outdoor movie with surround sound - very unique in this bush setting. If you want the real Aussie experience I would highly recommend- the highlight of our trip so far.

Delightful experience with entertainment that is very Australian, linking to history, adding poetry, a cruise up the Thompson River, that is managed well. The food is really good as part of the whole package
