As I understand it, this company uses contractors for their tour guides. So, I am rating Musawir, as he was amazing. If you book this tour and he is not your guide, you are missing out! Musawir is friendly, knowledgeable and very caring. He's passionate about 3 things, children, cats and tourists, who all need taking care of! I explained early on that I was interested in tasting local foods, but have a small appetite. He was very accommodating, making sure I got to taste many things, but that nothing went to waste (we're both passionate about not wasting). And he knows his local street food vendors. He took me to his favorite chapati maker, and it was the best chapati I have ever had, incredible. Took me to a happening Zanzibar mix place, ate a few dishes at a small (2 table) restaurant. We also had a lovely sugar cane juice with lime. Toward the end of the tour he asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee, and I couldn't, I was just too full. Aha, he says, I have just the thing, and got me a cup of ginger tea. Wow, it was perfect. He also took me to a local spice shop, not the ones where they overcharge tourists, but the local shop, where all the local Mamas buy their spices. I got all my spices to bring home for half what I would have paid in the markets. All in all a great tour, thanks to Musawir!!
