This is the best tour I’ve had in El Salvador. I have a fascination with the Mesoamerican civilization, which has taken me to places in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. El Salvador was the last Maya country I had not yet seen. I had a private tour with Eco Tourism and Herbert as my guide. He was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and about El Salvador in general. He had answers to all my questions. The pacing of the tour was exactly what I expected. Herbert was very passionate about what he does and highly professional.

This was a great tour! Antonio was such a great tour guide. Suchitoto was a beautiful historical city. We got nice pictures of the lake. I was really impressed that Antonio took us to the first house in Suchitoto. It was incredibly historical and well preserved. Entire tour was really great and well organized. All credit to Antonio.

Guide was the best part. Talkative and informative in English. Suchitoto is a weekend tourist trap kind of town. While colorful, it was mostly dead during the weekday. Prices on souvenirs were a little high and could be bought in San Salvador. Lunch, was good with a nice view of the water system in the valley.
At the end of the dry season, the waterfall was empty. :(
The ruins were spread over a wide area. Savanah tree growth with fruits brings out some lizards and birds. Most of the ruins are protected under the ground. The government lacks the funds to excavate the area, and trying to avoid becoming an old proverb.
Young boy asks where he can find the works of his ancestors and the father replies, "In other peoples countries."
