The early tour guest gets the spectacular views. We’ll pick you up in central downtown Portland, and take our favorite drive along the city's western ridgeline, down into pocket neighborhoods that feel like secrets. At OHSU, we’ll walk with you to the Aerial Tram. We’ll serve you craft roasted coffee and some of Portland’s best doughnuts with a view of the first morning light, then we’ll ride this feat of Italian engineering up to the top as the early sun reveals the city’s glowing colors. (Due to new hours for some shops and varying sunrise times, coffee may be our first stop.)
After we ride back to the bottom, we'll tell you the story of the bridge and its quixotic lights, and orient you to the city whose east-west divider lies before us.
The Aerial Tram was built in 2006 to connect the main campus of Oregon Health Sciences University with the new neighborhood of the South Waterfront. We will be joining students and medical staff on their daily tram ride!

Traveler pickup is offered
We will park at the southwest corner of Director Park (SW Taylor Street and Park / 9th Avenue). Look for our van under the Guild Theater sign on SW 9th Avenue; if that part of the street is occupied we will park elsewhere but we will come out to look for you right at 6:30. Our van arrives right at 6:30 and does not get to the pickup spot early.

Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon, United States OHSU is Portland's biggest employer and an architectural marvel, perched as it is on top of a tall, narrow peak of the Tualatin mountains. Thanks to its dedication to patient well-being, the teaching hospital and research facility is packed with art, some of which we'll experience before boarding the tram. 30 minutes
South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal, 3303 S Bond Ave, Portland, OR 97239, USA From the top to the bottom, the Aerial Tram is a quick ride; we'll take our time at the top and then descend down together to the Lower Tram Terminal. Here, we'll learn more about why the tram was installed at OHSU, and what it means to the city and its visitors. 10 minutes
SW Vista Dr, Portland, OR 97225, USA Our favorite route to the top of the hill is on a road named "Vista"; you will see why as we drive to the top of the Aerial Tram. 10 minutes
South Waterfront Park, Portland, Oregon, United States We'll pass through the South Waterfront neighborhood (with more doughnuts nearby!) 15 minutes
Tilikum Crossing, Portland, Oregon, United States We'll introduce you our favorite bridge, the Tilikum; and learn why it came to be here, and what makes it so special (and, at its launch, controversial).

It was lovely- we are local to PDX but decided to go on a whim. My 12 year old son loved it and has informed me he would like to do it again ❤️

A memorable experience with my sweetie!! We are locals and were looking for a fun activity to do, and this was just the right thing!! The tour guide is so knowledgeable, telling us so many fascinating tidbits about the tram area and Portland in general. Well worth getting up early for an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time!!

Great cheap way for a quick Gondala (aerial tram !) ride . Only a few minutes long for $8.50 return it’s an easy way to get some aerial shots of Portland . The tram seems to be mostly for hospital employees because at the top , the way out goes straight into the hospital foyer ! So I went back down on the same tram …
