Excellent day tour going up the coast north of Swakopmund. Enjoyed having a private tour, even with the guide's associate along taking photos for advertising and social media purposes--both were respectful, helpful, and kind. Our guide was exceptionally well-informed, whether about history, culture, geology, biology, making for a very informative tour. We saw a nearby shipwreck, giving us a taste of the Skeleton Coast since we weren't going to make it up to the park as part of 13-day driving tour of Namibia. We made stops at some villages along the way, learning how one man's discovery of a good fishing area eventually evolved into a popular place to build isolated vacation homes. Along the way to Cape Cross, we learned much of the geology of the area. The seal colony was quite a sight, and we had a delightful light picnic lunch. Bonus stop at the "Dead Sea" in Namibia (an old mining site turned popular swimming hole, saturated with enough salt to make it similar in buoyancy to the Dead Sea).
All-in-all, a great way to spend our day in Swakopmund amidst our longer driving tour of Namibia. Only complaint was that the back seat of our guide's truck was pretty tight. I'm 6 feet tall, my friend only a few inches shorter, so our knees were pretty jammed. Something I'm accustomed to with many tour vehicles, and definitely not enough of a complaint to not go on this tour. Just something to keep in mind!
