A great way to spend a good portion of the afternoon or morning. The zoo has an extensive amount of animals from most places on earth. We had already been on a safari in Africa, so we did not go that part of the zoo and concentrated mostly on the Australian wildlife part. The Zoo is on a hill and there are several ways to do it. After the Ferry ride over, walk uphill to the lower entrance and do a loop of the entire park and return to the lower entrance/ferry, from the ferry take the bus to the upper entrance and walk downhill to back to the lower entrance/ferry or walk to the lower entrance from the ferry and walk uphill through the park to the upper entrance and tack the bus back. There is a lot of walking involved either way you do it, so be prepared. We saw the main Australian animals while we were there including several types of kangaroos, wallabies, birds including an Emu, Tasmanian Devils, and of course, koalas. While we were there, the animals were all active. Again we did not venture over to the other non-Australian specific animals as we experienced them in Africa and other places Cost was about $33USD/$53AUD. You can prepurchase for a little less. We spent about 2 hours in the zoo and enjoyed it. Recommend if you are in Sydney and want to see Australian animals with going elsewhere. Easy ferry ride over from Circular Quay.
