Loved our experience attending the opera in this lovely setting. The production was beautiful, lively and imaginative; the performances were just wonderful; the whole evening was really a dream come true!

When Holland America cancelled the Opera House tour, I made friends with Opera Australia. The minute single tickets to Carmen became available I jumped. Four tickets, fifth row dead center. The performance couldn't have been better. The voices were superb ! Acting flawless even down to the children. They sang and acted wonderfully. What a beautiful place, what a wonderful performance, how could it be better. Thank you Opera Australia, long may you wave.

Beautiful stunning venue. Volume of orchestra was too low - show off that talent. During the first half, the performers were also quiet. Now I get that it’s hard to find a complete package to play Carmen but what about hair extensions, sultry makeup and stunner dresses for Carmen. There were several times the background players upstaged her visually. Help her out - wardrobe and makeup. Don Jose stole the show. Also I ordered and paid for an intermission beverage. What chaos! People were just grabbing glasses of wine. I guzzled a full cider in 5 minutes. Yikes. Never recommend that to anyone. We also found substantially cheaper tickets online than those offered at the box office. Staff were not very helpful. But certainly you must experience an opera or another favourite production at the Sydney Opera House.
