We will visit one of the biggest Greek theatres ever built, carved directly out of the rocky hillside. This visit will then include all of the other monuments in the  archeological area.  After the visiting these stunning ancients monuments, we will visit the island of Ortigia, one the epicentres in the history of the ancient world and a real master piece, full of archaeological monuments, stunning churches, incredible local food markets. Ortigia is one of the most visited places in Sicily. Experiencing this island with a professional, locally born guide will give you a full insight into the history and myth this magnificent place. Avoid this place. It has been transformed into a concert venue with all the ancient stone seating covered up by wooden bleachers. Huge lights and speakers and Broadway-style stage completely alter the character of this ancient wonder. Requiring unsuspecting tourists to pay 10 euros to see this borders on fraud. Very disappointing. (The nearby Roman theater is worth a visit).

Theater niet bezoeken voorlopig!!. Alle zitplaatsen zijn de komende tijd met hout bedekt ivm met een festival. Ook op het podium staan allerlei stellages. Van de hele sfeer van een oud theater is niets meer over. De rest van de site is niet echt de entree waard
