    One of the premier destinations in northern Taiwan, Yehliu Geopark is home to a number of unique geological formations including the iconic Queen's Head. Besides the Queen's Head, other remarkable formations include Sea Candles, Fairy Shoe, Ginger Rocks, Elephant Rock, Ice Cream Rock, Kissing Rock, and Princess' Head.

    Origins from millions of years ago, subterranean movements caused a massive collision between the Philippines oceanic plate and the Eurasian continental plate. The resulting pressure spawned violent volcanic activity and lifted the Eurasian plate.

    A mountain-top flatland park, Qingtiangang provides amazing views of Yangmingshan National Park. During the Japanese occupation, the area was established as a ranch for cattle to graze. The park is still home to cows and other wildlife. This area of Yangmingshan is very easily shrouded in clouds due to its elevation.

  • Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area, Beitou, Taiwan
    A post-volcanic geological park, Xiaoyoukeng is located on Mt. Qixing's northwestern corner, located approximately 805 metres above sea level. The area is known for fumaroles (mountain-side sulphur gas exhaust), hot springs, sulphur crystals.

This was fantastic! Our tour guide Henry was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed seeing the natural beauty in this tour. Highly recommended!

My wife and I did this tour with the guide Aaron. It was amazing! On the drive from the city, he explained metros, the suburbs vs city living, mopeds, and more. He went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about Taipei or information he felt important to share. Despite it being extremely hot and humid, Aaron took his time taking pictures of us at the geopark and making jokes along the way. After exploring the beautiful rocks, we drove up to the grasslands where we saw baby buffalo and much more. Once again, Aaron took his time to take pictures and even hike with us to a viewpoint. We also stopped at the sulfur pits, flower path, and at his mom’s favorite restaurant to try mountain chicken. Although we are fairly experienced travelers, it was well worth it to have a careful driver, photographer, and guide like Aaron.
