Burma Bazaar, Chennai (Madras), India Leather market- We visit a wholesale market for leather where traders visit from many parts of the world. Set up a few decades earlier, this market has emerged as a gateway to one of the most important leather manufacturing pockets of India. Shoppers love this market because of its reputation for products made from genuine leather.
Flea market- Moore market is a flea market that has literally risen from the ashes. The original market with more than 800 stalls selling books, clothes and plastic goods was gutted in a fire in 1985. The shops were relocated to the present location and this flea market has become popular again. The market is a great place to shop for used books, junk & antiques and even gramophones!
Burma Bazaar- We will visit Burma Bazaar, one of the most popular flea markets in Chennai. Set up for refugees from Burma, this bazaar today is great for good bargains on stationary, clothes, DVD’s, electronic items, software, perfumes and toys.
Fish market- After visiting bazaars and flea markets, we now head to a fish market! This fish market is the most famous in Chennai and it supplies to all the hotels in the city. Located next to the Chennai Harbour, this is a great place to shop for seer, pomfret, prawn, shark, sardine, crab, silverbellies, carangids and mackerel.

I highly recommend this trip if you want to experience the real markets of Chennai and are not bothered by crowded and less clean areas. My guide Nivi was excellent and very informative. She took me to Pookadai, the Burma bazaar, fish market by Marina Beach, Koyembedu market. I was able to purchase handicrafts at VTI and Spencer plaza. Had a late lunch at Geetham restaurant with an awesome thali meal. Overall, had a great introduction to the markets of the local population in the area.

Recently I had been to Chennai for my vacation. Buying sarees is a mandatory in my checklist whenever I visit India. I usually love shopping in T.Nagar as it gives me loads of choices. This time i wanted to explore a new place. So i was searching for a good saree shop around T.Nagar and landed on Shrus Eternity's Insta page. I was in love with their sarees collection even before i touched down in chennai.
I went to Shrus with my mom & aunt(I always need support when it comes to shopping :)) The variety of saree collection was really good. My favourite was their Kanchipuram silk sarees and silk cotton sarees. The staff were kind & patient and helped me through the details of the sarees. It was overall an amazing shopping experience. They also have a floor dedicated for home & lifestyle products. They also have domestic & international shipping.

Nivi was a fantastic guide. We were running 10 minutes late and she was very accommodating and we met her at the first store. She basically held our hand while navigating wedding attire shopping. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking to shop.
