Most of the reserve remains set aside for game hunting through a number of privately leased hunting concessions, but a section of the northern park along the Rufiji River has been designated a photographic zone and is a popular tourist destination. There are several high end lodges and camps mainly situated along the river and lake systems in this area. Rather difficult road access means most visitors arrive by small aircraft from Dar es Salaam, though train access is also possible.

I have never seen someone racist as much as goddefry, he took the money and never brought it back after he started charging 230$ per day for just a bus, he stole 300$+ Such a greedy person. He doesnt have busses, he just contacts other agencies in Zanzibar & safaris and takes his percentage! U can easily find local zanzibari bus & safari operators for half the price!

We had a memorable journey, well organized by Godfrey. We enjoyed every single moment, especially the game drive with Michael in Selous. He made a huge effort in giving us the best experience possible, including off-roading which we loved. The elephants visiting our camp was magical. Asante sana!

Organised this fabulous trip with Godfrey - it was a marvellous experience from start to finish and exceeded all our expectations. Big special thanks to Michael our driver / guide for locating all the wonderful animals on safari and looking after us for three magical days. Thanks to all at the African Safari Lodge, where we had a very pleasant stay. The lovely staff could not do enough for us and made us feel very welcome and special. We would certainly recommend this trip to visit the Selous game reserve and would return again without hesitation. Thank you all.
