Sometimes called the Whisky Route, one of the popular ones on Kilimanjaro but in the same time consider to be difficult route. This is a popular route up steep paths through magnificent forests to gain a ridge leading through the moorland zones to the Shira Plateau, It then traverses beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Icefields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Accommodation on the mountain is in tents which the porters will pitch for you. You will need a sleeping bag, warm clothes and walking poles. This is a steep, tough trek within the limits of a fit individual used to walking in mountain areas.

  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

We went for a 7-day Machame route trekking on Mt. Kilimanjaro with Gosheni, and it was a great experience. Our guide Sam was an experienced mountain guide, very easy-going, answered all the questions we had from the mountain to the country/culture, and kept inspiring us when we were hit by the AMS, we couldn't have summit the mountain without him. Also all the other people in the team - our assistant guide, the waiter, the chef, all the porters, everyone is just impressively friendly and nice, we were happy to have achieved this once in a life time adventure with such a nice group. And for the mountain itself, the stunning view, the most beautiful ever Milky Way in the night, the fluffy cloud under your feet with everyday hiking, all these are irresistible enough that brings you to Kilimanjaro.
