We did the Jozani Forest, Salaam Caves, Kuza Caves & Beach Lunch tour during our trip to Zanzibar, and it was excellent value for money.
Our guide, Rasheed, was absolutely amazing — friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Zanzibar’s history and wildlife. He made the day both fun and informative.
The tour started at Jozani Forest, where we saw the rare red colobus monkeys, which can only be found in Zanzibar. It was incredible to observe them up close in their natural habitat. We then visited Salaam Caves, where we had the chance to feed turtles — a magical experience I won’t forget!
After that, we explored Kuza Caves, a beautiful natural swimming spot, and then headed for lunch. Rasheed had recommended Shanga Restaurant, which was right on the beach. We were originally thinking about dining at The Rock Restaurant, but felt it was a bit overpriced and touristy. We were so glad we took Rasheed’s advice — Shanga had amazing food, a relaxed vibe, and stunning sea views. A real hidden gem!
This day was the perfect combination of nature, culture, and great food. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Zanzibar, especially with Rasheed as your guide!
