Tarangire National Park: Home to tree-climbing lions and baobabs as far as the eye can see, Tarangire has all of the Big Five mammals (although rhino are a rare sighting) Ngorongoro Crater: This UNESCO World Heritage site, is 600 meters deep, 20 kilometers wide and the largest unfounded, unbroken caldera in the world. It's an extraordinary ecosystem where you can find the Big Five and if you're lucky, the endangered Black rhino on the Crater floor.

My wife and I wanted a birding trip in the parks within driving distance of Arusha and Lawrence of Expect in Africa was quick in responding with various options. We chose a 5-day trip mid-range which turned out to be very comfortable. Our guide and driver was Raymond and he was extremely knowledgeable regarding wildlife. My wife and I are both biologists and we have been on safaris many times in six different countries in Africa. This trip we focused on birds and Ray was great in finding them (in five days we saw over 200 different species). Ray had also removed the standard roof of the vehicle so that we could also photograph birds in flight. I think I have to apologize to him for shouting “stop!” too many times; the area is just so rich in bird life. There is really nothing we didn’t like. The hotels were first class, the food was great and Ray was extremely accommodating to our wishes. We both highly recommend Expect in Africa for a safari in Tanzania.
