After a visit to the Anglican Cathedral (former slave market), House of Wonders (national museum), Palace museum, the Old Fort, Darajani market, Hamamni Baths, Catholic Cathedral, Freddy Mercury house and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the streets, the bazaar full of coffee drinkers and the beautiful doors of Zanzibar, you too will bear witness that Stone Town is a cultural crossroads and that it is worthy of its world heritage title. Also take the time to explore the markets where local people purchase their daily requirements and also a market street full of colourful textiles. It's an amazing town with long history. If you are in Tanzania, you can't miss this island. Especially if you have interests in history and the people. We both love our tour guide very much, he was very patient and gave us fantastic explanation about this place. He knows the town well, and all the local people know him. If you are a foreigner like us, you are highly recommend to walk around with a local tour guide, he can really help you out for many situations. Oh his name is Mohammed O. Mohamed, a super nice local guy.

Visiting Zanzibar solo I booked a walking tour of Stone Town. My guide Mohammad was knowledgeable and welcoming. I learned a lot and he even went out of his way to show me the easiest way to find the restaurant I had booked that evening.

Yusuf tailored our tour to our specifications. We did not have the full two hours and were also doing the tour with 2 children (7-10). He was very knowledgeable about the history of Stone Town. I would recommend him to anyone visiting Stone Town.
