Under the excellent guidance of Tatya and our driver Nevus, I had a wonderful time taking in the the sights and cuisine of Tiblisi. Seeing the traditional architecture of the Old Town, its cathedrals, the fort, the houses, is like experiencing an alternate history. Everything looks familiar but different. But you need to see it soon before the city gets spoiled by all the modern development that's going on.

This is our introduction to Georgia history. The tour is well organized. We visited the main area of Old Mtskheta and Tbilisi: Jvari Monastery, Anchischati Basilica, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Narikala Fortress, Abanotubani district, Freedom Square, and European Square. Along the way the guide tell us about Georgian history, Orthodox Christianity, invasion by various civilizations, the formation of Georgian identity, up to contemporary Georgia. The tour is excellent introduction to Georgia. We are lucky to have Khatia as our guide. She is knowledgable and friendly. She is responding well to our questions, and catering to our needs, including finding a good restaurant for lunch. I would highly recommend Colour Tour of Georgia and the Old Tbilisi and Mtskheta Tour.
