Pavel Batel is a dedicated teacher-historian specializing in the role of Terezin in the Holocaust. Ongoing research involving visiting archives, and interviewing survivors (49 documented interviews) is essential to work as a messenger of the past. He is a captivating storyteller and author of three historical fiction. Two of them are focusing on the untold stories of Terezin's heroes. Professors from world-prestigious universities travel to the Czech Republic to experience Pavel's deep knowledge of the Terezin subject, as the director of the Historical Department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, prof. Yuval or Izraeli holocaust historian, prof. Florence Luxemburg-Isenberg.     After watching all the fragments of Nazi propaganda movies brought back to light in the mid-sixties and nineties, you'll discover the forgotten world of Terezin artists. You'll see replicas of the ghetto accommodation or theater sets. At your own pace, you'll have a chance to admire Terezin's drawings, the room dedicated to Jewish writers and musicians.

    You will hear stories about the everyday life of the Czech political prisoners in a concentration camp during the Nazi era. Visiting the Small Fortress is a very dramatic and intensive experience. Pavel is describing facts from original memoirs written by eyewitnesses and survivors right after the war. He personally interviewed their family members. Czech survivors of the Small fort suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder when they should recall memories of extreme torture of the special group of prisoners who were not considered to be human beings. These prisoners had no names and no numbers and usually didn't live longer than five days. They were called Jews!

    Terezin (or "Theresienstadt" in German), less than an hour's drive north of Prague, is a former Habsburg fortress and famous garrison town built between 1780-1790. This town became a holding camp for Jewish Czech families and selected Jewish groups from Germany, Austria, Holland, and Denmark between 1941-1945, and who were later deported to extermination camps in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe.

In June 2023, I joined a semi-private tour to Terezin guided by Pavel Batel, after being recommended by several friends. Pavel is a knowledgeable historian who has personally interviewed survivors who used to live in Terezin, and his exceptional storytelling skills made the tour an enlightening experience where I learned a great deal about Czech history. Moreover, he provided us with detailed explanations to our questions, making the tour a highlight of my entire European trip. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Prague. This country not only offers beautiful scenery but also bears significant historical importance that deserves reflection.

Went on the tour to the Terezin concentration camp in June 2023 with Mr. Pavel Batel. The entire experience was unbelievable - right from Punctual pick up, smooth journey, excellent narration of the history and sequence of events. Paying attention to the appropriate details, answers all questions and is phenomenally knowledgeable. Mr. Pavel Batel has devoted several years in studying the history, meeting the holocaust survivors in person in various part of the world, interviewed them and can depict the entire happenings with clarity, passion. precision and accuracy, It was such a rewarding experience to go on this tour with Mr. Pavel Batel. He is awesome and I would recommend this tour as a MUST with Mr. Pavel Batel. Please request the tour company to arrange for Mr. Pavel Batel as the tour guide for you to have an unforgettable visit to Terezin.

We had the most incredible, moving, eye opening experience of the horrors of Terezin bought to life by the passion of Pavel who retold unimaginable stories and showed us every scary detail of that dreadful place, almost making it come back to life. We left fully educated about a time in history that has to be told.
