Wow! This tour was fantastic. The van clean, neat, stocked with beverages. Carlos, our tour guide was prompt, spoke English extremely well for us, was a gentleman through and through, and was extremely knowledgeable, not only about the sound of music, but also about other filming locations and histories. Carlos also was our own personal photographer. He was familiar with both our cameras and our cell phone cameras. The man was just incredible! Now the tour- we were picked up promptly at eight and hit several of the sound of music spots that get crazy filled with people before I think they were even awake. lol We drove out to places where bus tours would be unable to go because of the roads. Carlos had great movie clips to show us to prove that where we were standing is exactly where -for example Maria was singing, doe a dear, or the hike at the close to climb every mountain. The mountains in the background, the trees, etc. everything was identical. Often little signs were set up to show you where you are. On top of a phenomenal tour we ate an extremely delightful lunch. If you are a foodie, you will absolutely love this place. Expensive, but just a whole separate experience in itself. (Obauer) i’m sure Carlos had lots of places he could recommend. This tour was the trip of a lifetime for me and for my daughter. There were so many lovely moments… The church, where the real Maria was married, the church in the movie. We will keep these memories stored forever. Thank you Carlos.

Just WOW! My daughter and I have spent our lifetimes watching the sound of music and singing all of the music. We both walked down the aisle to the wedding song of Maria’s. Mine so long ago, that my lovely organist wrote the music himself. Our trip to Austria was based on this movie. This tour was the culminating experience for us. Carlos was exceptional. What I really loved about this whole entire tour was that when Carlos took us to a field he showed us a movie clip that was exactly where we were standing. Mountains have not changed in 60 years. Most of the backdrop was there although so cute when there wasn’t a tree, etc. the bus tours cannot do what we did. Some of the roads were so narrow we barely made it. We learned lots of other things along the way. Other movie locations as well. If you can afford this trip, it is worth every euro spent. I can assure you you will not be disappointed. And just to top off the day we had a lunch of a lifetime. If you are a foodie the exquisite lunch is for you! I really don’t think I can do justice with words to the way we felt about this tour. Lots of people in Austria have not seen the sound of music but that’s OK because they’re all super friendly. Salzburg tolerates tourists well and I would not have changed one thing.
