On this tour you are accompanied by a historian with a deep passion and knowledge of Wales. You will learn some Welsh, sample traditional Welsh food and learn about the ancient history and culture of Wales. Gareth, your guide is a fluent Welsh speaker and he will give you an insight into Wales that wouldn't be available with a standard tour operator. The area we will visit is dotted with quaint old towns and picturesque villages which seem untouched by time. The South West is the home of Pembrokeshire coast national park, and is an area renowned for the beauty of its beaches and coastline. An example of a tour could be a visit to the wonderfully preserved Norman Castle at Pembroke, then lunch in the beautiful medieval port of Tenby followed by a stop off in Laugharne, the former home of the poet Dylan Thomas.

    This was the sanctuary of the world famous poet Dylan Thomas. It was in this village that he wrote some of his most famous work including 'Under Milk Wood'. In Laugharne you can stop in Dylan's local pub for a pint, visit his boat house and writing shed or enjoy the views of the estuary with the Norman Castle in the foreground.

The tour guide was knowledgeable about the area and gave us insights into the areas we were going to visit. He also gave us the definition of several words in Welsh so that we could understand the names of the towns better which was wonderful. On the way back, he didn’t really talk at all. It would have been a bit better if he had given us a bit more information on the trip back.

The knowledge of Garreth (spelling) was amazing. Felt like I was getting a comprehensive history lesson but one filled with humor also that made it more interesting . We had the right amount of time at each location. I would definitely use this operator again for another tour. I actually left my backpack in the van and he was nice enough to drop it off to me the next morning???? the small group setting made it even better Sheldra Witmhoudt, New Orleans

We really enjoyed Penbroke Castle and walking through Tembay. Beautiful country! The guide was lovely and organized the trip well. Very enjoyable.
