The Real Tour of Communism will take you through all of the major aspects regarding the life under communist rule in Romania which lasted officially from 1948 to 1989. The Communism era was marked by the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu who ruled Romania for most of this period (1965-1989). We will discover the landmarks of the Communist era to understand how the city's architecture was influenced and changed for ever. But also the former locations of the Secret Police where Romanians were interrogated and tortured too. The tour ends in the Revolution Square where Nicolae Ceausescu had his last speech on Dec 21st 1989 few days before he was executed together with his wife.

Octavian is the best. Approachable, knowledgeable, insightful, and most passionate about the tour. We had a clash of schedule that afternoon for the tour in Palace of Parliament, and the communications with Octavian was superb. The lecture about Communism was out of my expectation that made me want to book the same guide again next time in Bucharest! Such rich culture. The tour should be ending 20:00, but Octavian engaged us so well that we had a bonus 20mins to hear more. The conclusion of the tour was placed at the fountain at Revolution Square, where we heard about the great fall of Communism while enjoying the rosary sunset. We’re so grateful to have attended this tour! ❤️
