We have been all over the world, and to countless museums. We had seen a lot of Oslo already, and I was looking for something we had not done. I came across “The Viking Planet” interactive museum, and it piqued my interest. Understand that we are “seniors” (70 years young) but very active and curious. So I booked the package deal that included the museum and an interactive game for four of us. The others were grumbling, thought it was probably going to be silly, so I had to endure a few days of ridicule and discord leading up to us entering the museum. Upon first entrance, I must admit that their souvenirs are wonderful!! Some very unique items. We were checked in by an extremely pleasant and beautiful young Norwegian woman, and she proceeded to take us to the “game” we had booked. We all put on interactive goggles, were provided a tutorial, and next thing we know we are Vikings traveling through areas by foot, or boat. Then we proceeded to use bow and arrows, or swords, to strike down the enemy coming from everywhere. It was so realistic, we had lost sight of the fact that we were normal people. Suddenly we were bound and determined to kill every approaching enemy with as much vigor possible. We fought for 30 minutes, and it seemed like 5. Becoming entrenched in the Viking warrior world was as good as it gets!!! We laughed and laughed at ourselves because we truly did lose sight of actual time and space and were transported to another ancient world. So much fun! Then we toured the rest of the museum which consisted of holograms, interactive displays, and a ride on a Viking ship, once again being transported into another time. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, as the information on the world of Vikings was provided in a unique and very engaging way.
