The name "Ameyoko" is a short form for "Ameya Yokocho" (candy store alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, "Ame" also stands for "America", because a lot of American products used to be available there when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War Two. 30 minutes

Nobuko was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and flexible. My only suggestion is to request your start after 10 or 11 because that is when many shops open.

Despite the rain we got that day, I ended up doing everything and even more from the things I've planned with my wonderful guide, Yumi.
The fish market was a memorable experience and a great start of the day. From there we visited the Meiji Jingu shrine . Then to a couple of shopping streets and I even got lucky to see a dance festival going on a big boulevard in the area.
After some refreshments in Shibuya we ended the tour in Ueno.
It was a pleasure to meet Yumi and to have her as my guide. Highly recommended.
