  • Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, Tsukiji, Tokyo Prefecture, Japan
    Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple is a Buddhist temple is unlike any other, especially in terms of its architecture. While the outside of the temple is reminiscent of South Asian and Indian traditional design, the inside adds even more to the mix. It has seen a deal of damage over the years. It burned down just 40 years after it was erected in 1617, and was destroyed again in the great 1923 earthquake. You will meet your tour guide at the main entrance of the temple then start to the tour. The tour does not include the tour of temple so please come earlier and see inside if you are interested in seeing it.

We enjoyed the fish market tour but hoped that we would be buying the items we would later use for the cooking class. For the price, I dont think we made enough food

Nobu was a great guide and helped us navigate Tsukiji market. It was only myself and my husband on the tour and that was great because we had a say in what we wanted to see in the market. The sushi making class was excellent. We made 3 types of sushi and miso soup. The ingredients were fresh and the sushi we made was very tasty. Miwa was a great teacher!

It was great being guided around the market so we could ask what all the things are to try. Yes, you could do the market on your own but having someone to translate made it so much easier. Sushi making was excellent fun, and is something we'll definitely be trying at home.
