Royal Tombs, Nuku'alofa, Tonga Malaʻekula or the Royal Tombs is situated in central Nukuʻalofa in the Kingdom of Tonga . The Kings of Tonga and their very close relatives (wives, husbands, children) are buried there. Those who are a little farther away from the mainline (cousins, nephews, nieces, inlaws) are buried elsewhere, in other chiefly cemeteries. Kings from older times, (i.e. the Tuʻi Tonga dynasty), are mostly buried in the langi in Muʻa.
The main royal tombs are located at the Mala'ekula site, which includes the tombs of the first five kings of Tonga: King George Tupou I, King George Tupou II, Queen Salote III , King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV and King George V . Each tomb is adorned with traditional Tongan designs and symbols and is surrounded by a beautifully lawn.

Well organised and pick up from the cruise ship was easy. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly but didn’t spend enough time pointing out local sights whilst travelling in the bus.
The stops we went to were very interesting and overall the trip was great value for money.

Organization was great. Everything was on time and fairly well explained.
The caves were stunning....but a challenge for some group members to get to (I would definitely consider your fitness level before booking).
Guide started off strong (and was super friendly), but could have talked more with the group and less with the driver.
A microphone/audio system would have greatly improved the experience.
The country and the people are AMAZING!!!!!!

I went with Ana at Teta Tours Tonga and I’d highly recommend them!
I contacted them via Facebook and email and they were welcoming and easy to communicate with!
They picked me up from my hotel and we had such a fun day. I felt like I was part of the family and had a great experience. The caves were spectacular!
Margaret was the local girl who guided me through the caves and also swam with me and Ana and family. It was lovely being part of a group and enjoying the fresh water and amazing scenery.
Ana knew a lot about Tonga and I loved her stories and gracious manner.
She even helped me buy a traditional outfit (Kia Kia ) so that I would be wearing appropriate attire for the Tongan church service on a Sunday. (Note everything is closed on Sunday’s in Tonga for church)
I would highly recommend Teta Tours and I want to come back with my family and do all tours and no work!
