Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti, Zarnesti, Romania The Bear Sanctuary Libearty Cultural Tour offers you the opportunity to find out the history of this place and to meet the lovely bears that have been rescued and are now free of any worries. The Sanctuary has 69 hectares of oak forest where the bears now have all the freedom they deserve. Some of them will be released back into the wild if they prove they have what it takes.
The Sanctuary is our first stop in the morning. This is also when the bears are being fed, so they naturally come closer and people can see them. After breakfast they normally go back into the woods to get some well deserved sleep. That’s why mornings are the ideal time of the day to visit. Also, the Libearty Sanctuary is only open from Tuesdays to Sundays and children under the age of five are not allowed inside.

We really enjoyed this tour, the bear sanctuary and bran castle we're both great, we had a lovely stroll around bran afterwards and then headed to the ski resort to admire some stunning views, our guide Ramona was fantastic, telling us all about the history of Romania and showing us some lovely sights whilst driving through some beautiful towns, I would definitely recommend this tour.

We spent the day very privately with Radu. In the morning we were picked up by him and then drove to Libearty Bear Sanctuary. Thanks to the fond memory of Ramona about a week earlier, we had already bought the tickets for 9 a.m. Which was also good as there are only about 40 tickets for the timeslot and we actually reached this group size. The tour was led by a guide from the Sanctuary and Radu has always given us additional information. In addition, he also asked questions for us because the stories of the guide were partly incomprehensible (partly also due to the group size).
Since the group was very large and the guests were sometimes noisy, we often did not understand the guide. We would have liked the group size to be smaller up to about 12 people to just understand more and certainly this would also be more pleasant for the bears and also the guide. We are aware that Radu and Ramona have no influence on it now, but we still wanted to note this here.
We continued to Bran Castle. Since we travelled during the holiday season, there was clearly more crowds of people. Again, Ramona had lovingly asked us to buy the tickets online beforehand. This allowed us to queue directly to the castle and not have to go back in line for ticket sales. Together we also got in line. Radu has suggested to us that while he stops in line, we can look at the garden of Bran Castle. We gladly accepted this thankfully and were able to explore the garden a bit.
Radu said that we had actually made rapid progress. From our point of view, that wasn't quite so. However, we also have no comparison.
The castle was very crowded and we had to focus on the stories of Radu. Radu has always involved each of us and provided us with information.
The next day's programme should be a visit to a nearby ski resort. However, as we were less interested in this, we wanted to dive more into the culinary arts. Our wish was to go to typical Romanian food. Radu took us to a beautiful restaurant in the mountains. Not only the food was wonderful, but also the view. Radu, thank you for taking us there and eating with us. That was exactly what we wanted!:)
