The shared tour has set dates (every Tuesday and Saturday, May - October) in which it is guaranteed to start if there are at least 2 participants enlisted. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the shared tour will not take place. In this case, we may offer you an alternative tour.

    Lunch in the most famous village of Maramures. Short walk in the village after lunch.

  • Church of the Holy Paraskeva, Desesti, Romania
    Visit the 18th century wooden church of Desesti, UNESCO heritage. This church shelters some of the best preserved interior painting.

  • Merry Cemetery, Sapanta, Romania
    The unavoidable attraction in Maramures is the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta, an unusually colorful place, unexpectedly reflecting the love of life of the locals – that’s what you’ll discover in the late afternoon. You cannot leave the region before entering the house of a villager eager to show you their traditional dowry room.

I had very spevic interests and Geta my guide was willing to accommodate them all. She put in a long hard day of mountainous driving and got me to every wooden church with interesting art. She is knowledgeable speaks flawless English and was willing to discuss a wide range of topics with me on the long drive. She deepened my understanding of Romania in many ways

It was a long day( 14hrs) , but that said ,we saw 2 x old wooden churches, had a traditional experience, in a small village ( including lunch) & visited the Merry cemetery. The guide was informative & seem to have all the contacts wherever we went. Regular stops on route for coffee or toilets. Nothing was too much trouble for her ( Gita). The transport( mini van was comfortable & her driving was excellent.
