Come and experience a trip on the most beautiful highway in Europe! Although the highway itself is considered to be the main attraction, there are many more pit stops on the way. For example, at 2034 meters, we arrive at Balea Lake, having previously admired the Balea Waterfall. The place is filled with merchants selling foods, drinks and souvenirs. The landscape is absolutely amazing. It really feels like heaven! Then, if you're curious to discover more and time allows us, there is an optional free of charge trip available to either the watermill in Lisa, a small village, to experience the traditional way of felting. Or, we can take a delightful lunch (meal not included) at the restaurant in Albota. Perhaps you'd prefer a cultural experience, and we can visit the Cistercian Abbey of Carta.   • Balea Waterfall, Cartisoara, Romania
    Located at 1200 m high altitude, beautiful and wild with more then 60 m water drop, Balea Waterfall is a must see in the area. We will have to walk for 15 minutes until the base of the waterfall. For the ones that prefer to avoid the short hike, then there is a view point were we can stop with the car to admire it.

  • Le Lac Balea, Sibiu County, Romania
    Balea Lake (2034 altitude) is the biggest glacier lake and probably the most beautiful in Fagaras mountains. Right near we can find couple of restaurants and little wooden huts were locals are selling traditional cheese, sausages and souvenirs. We are going to spend here enough time to enjoy the places and the view. A short walk along the lake and the area can be done on request.

    Spend the day exploring one of the most famous mountain roads in the world. With spectacular views, the Transfagarasan road takes you above the 2000 m altitude line. Enjoy a break on top of the mountain where a mountain cabin was built at the end of the 1800s for the tired hikers that spent days getting there. The road has an interesting history, being built in the 70s at the orders of the communist leader who wanted to have an extra escape route in case of Soviet invasion.

I took this tour with Ramona, she is always there for me from the beginning since I booked this tour until the drop off, prompt and attentive to answer my questions. She told me many interesting stories about Romania histories while we take a drive to Carpathian Mountains. We are very lucky to encounter with brown bears along the way to the lake! The scenery throughout the entire journey is beyond your imagination and to top it off when you arrive at the lake, the view there could take your breath away! Ramona guide me for a walk around the lake and give me suggestion about what food should I try. We dine at the area near the lake which is amazing. The bonus stop of this trip you could pick one for yourself, I choose to go to Carta Monastery, a hidden gem for ancient history lover. I really encourage everyone to go on this trip once in your lifetime not only because of the beauty you will see in Transylvania nature and places but as the road has limited access, opens only for a short summer period (Jun-Sep/Oct) and only if the weather conditions is permitted, if you got a chance, do not hesitate to join this magnificent experience with Ramona!

Such a great day trip to Transfagarasan. My boyfriend and I, we enjoyed every second. Romana was just amazing and full of knowledge. We will be back soon

Me and my partner did a trip on the Transfagarasan road with Ramona and was a great day, a real highlight of our trip. Ramana is professional, friendly and great company and do not hesitate to recommend a trip with her :)
