Mine has in-depth knowledge on Hagia Sophia and the Hippodrome, to the point where I assumed she had a degree in History, although she said it comes from her professional Turkish training as a guide. Might be a little more difficult to follow for those with limited previous exposure to the complex history of Istanbul, but worth the effort. Friendly, on time, and polite. Also pointed us to an excellent lunch spot dear to locals.

We had a wonderful half-day tour of the Hagia Sophia area with Kadir. He knew an amazing amount of history and was able to make it lively and engaging as well as deeply educational. We learned so much about this incredible area and also had a lot of fun. Kadir was thoughtful and sensitive to the needs of everyone in our group; he had extra umbrellas and rain jackets, and generally looked out for us. The tour really gave us a great grounding for the rest of our stay in Istanbul. Besides the tour, he arranged for a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant for our entire family and was extremely helpful with all of our questions. He even went out of his way to find a EuroLeague basketball game for some of us to attend. We did this tour on our first morning in Istanbul, and it was a wonderful welcome to the city. Kadir was the best!
