Take a drive through the lively shopping streets of Port of Spain. See the Queen’s Park Savannah and the magnificent, seven, colonial style buildings and visit the National Museum (according to availability). Visit Fort George for spectacular panoramic views of Port of Spain. Next, take the North Coast road to the famous Maracas Beach. Make a stop at the lookout point, take some photos of the surrounding bays and even try some local snacks such as pineapple chutney. At the beach, relax, swim or just have a walk on its’ sandy shores. Also, try the famous "bake and fish” sandwich. So tasty!

    A walk in the delightful Botanic Gardens is most rewarding. Here you can embrace what nature has to offer. Take a short walk and marvel at the various tropical trees. A true touch of heaven!

  • Fort King George, Scarborough, Caribbean
    Enter the busy suburb of St James where there is an astounding panoramic view at Fort George, which has an elevation of approximately 236 feet above sea level. Enjoy the spectacular views from this historical site covering the city of Port of Spain and the Gulf of Paria, Central & South Trinidad and the West Coast of the island. This panorama spans as far as the hills of Venezuela, according to visibility.

  • Maracas Beach, Port of Spain, Caribbean
    Travel up to the scenic north coast road to admire the view of the Paramin hills to the west with their plantations of herbs and spices. A short stop at the Maracas Lookout gives you the opportunity for some pictures of the surrounding bays. Try a variety of local snacks from the vendors and you maybe even be able to hear a little improvised Calypso music. Make your way to the popular Maracas Beach, lined with coconut trees. Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool Caribbean waters. Taste the world famous Bake and Shark Sandwich!

Jay was our guide for the day and she did an excellent job leading our tour. We selected a private tour and she was very accommodating to make sure our requests for the tour was incorporated in the day. She provided a tour of Port of Spain providing a lot of background information and showing us the highlights of the city from a historical as well as a modern perspective. We traveled to several sites to get a look out view of the port and then onto Maracas Beach. We had an amazing lunch along the way and spent some time walking the beach. She included a trip to the monastery and returned us to the port on time for our cruise ship departure. Her passion for Trinidad and knowledge were a big part of the tour. Thanks for a great time.

Today my wife, Sylvia, and I completed the Trinidad highlights and monastery tour with Janelle. We have been on many tours over the years and this tour stood out as one of the best we've taken. Touring with Janelle was like riding around with an old friend or family member. She is very knowledgeable and as friendly as it gets. Janelle even took a slight detour in San Juan so I could see the house I stayed in many years ago on previous visits. Showing Sylvia the highlights of Port of Spain and surrounding areas and keeping her so easily engaged was handled with ease by Janelle. We hated for the day to end!!
