This 8-hour tour takes you to explore the attractions of Central & South Trinidad. On this guided tour, visit the second largest city in Trinidad - San Fernando plus make stops at the Market, Pitch Lake, the Hindu Temple & Hanuman Statue. This full-day tour includes entrance fees, a local guide and hotel pickup and drop-off from Port of Spain hotels.

    Enjoy all that the busy bazaar streets and fresh produce markets of Chaguanas has to offer. With local fruits, provisions, meats and snacks, vendors put them all on display for purchase. Look out for the hot peppers! Also try some local East Indian snacks, like Khurma.

  • Dattatreya Temple and Hanuman Statue, Port of Spain, Caribbean
    Located in Central Trinidad and so you see a number of Hindu temples, and prayer flags in the yards of seemingly every house. See the largest (85-foot/26-meter) statue of the Hindu monkey-god, Lord Hanuman, outside of India. A tour of the site including the attached yoga center allows you to learn about interesting rituals and concepts

  • La Brea Pitch Lake, Caribbean
    In deep South of Trinidad, we visit the small village of La Brea, where the Pitch Lake is situated. It is the largest of its kind in the world, and looks something like an elephant skin which can be peeled off! Our guide leads us around the site for one hour, making sure we don’t stand up on one of the vertical veins where the pitch is soft and sinking is easy. There are also spots for bathing in the sulphur pools (according to the weather).

    Take a short drive across to the Temple in the Sea and Cremation Site. Also enjoy a tasty, authentic roti lunch (not included in tour price)

I booked four tours through my hotel's tour desk with Island Experiences. I was pleased with all four tours. First I took a half day tour of Port of Spain. This was a good introduction to the city. The next day I took the Island Tour to Pitch Lake and Chaguanas. Khalil was excellent as a guide. He took us to try the Trinidad national breakfast dish of doubles. Then we visited the market at Chaguanas. Khalil described the products offered for sale at the market. A highlight had to be the visit to La Brea Pitch Lake. We had a guided tour of the lake followed by a visit to the small museum. For lunch, we stopped at a Roti stand to try another local dish. Finally we visited the Dattatreya Temple and the Temple in the Sea. It was a nice look at the central and southern parts of the island. I also took a tour to the North Coast beaches. I arranged to also include the Chaguaramas Military Museum. My driver/guide took me there, but alas they were closed on that day. He showed me other sights in the area instead. Finally, I took a tour to Yerette to see the Hummingbirds followed by the Caroni Swamp Boat tour. My guide, Janelle, went on the boat with me and pointed out some animals that the boat driver did not see.

It was a funfilled and beautiful trip. Cultural exposure to the island at its best!!!! It was truly a lovely overview of the island's best spots. Would highly recommend it. Our guide and driver Junior was the best. Not to mention tour guide Billy at the pitch lake.

Great trip Khaleel was a great guide and host. Enjoyed seeing a lot of Trinidad and it was just us which was lovely
