Tuk tuk Tour Tavira Total - 2h00 - Includes Tuna Museum and Fishing Village

Our guide João was really informative and fun as well. We got to see flamingos a spoonbill, lots of beautiful buildings. João gave us so much information about the history of Tavira that we would not have learned otherwise.

There were five of us so we took two tuk tuks and we had both Joao and Lori as guides. The tour was amazing and we all enjoyed it very much. We learned about the history of old town Tavira and also the newer part of Tavira across the river. We also learned about the salt flats and visited and learned the history of what is now the tuna museum and fabulous hotel..

We chose this tour mainly because one of our guests was elderly and had very limited mobility, so taking a Tuk Tuk to explore Tavira was the perfect solution! Joao, our guide was waiting for us at the agreed meeting point, but woukd have come to the car park as well. As we were 4 people, we had expected 2 vehicles, but was delighted to find that he had a 4 seater, and this meant the tour was much fun for all of us. He spoke perfect English and conducted the entire tour with great knowledge and enthusiasm, stopping at every opportunity to share either historical or quirky points of interest. Tavira centre is surprisingly hilly, so having the little Tuk Tuk made it very easy and even the bumpy cobble stones were acceptable after Joao described them as a free back massage!! Unfortunately, the Tuna museum was closed for refurbishment that week, which was a shame, but out of Joaos’ hands. To make up for this Joao stopped at a lovely homemade chocolate shop and treated us all to a cup of hot chocolate, which was glorious and much appreciated as it was a bit chilly that day. At the end of the tour, Joao kindly dropped us off at our car ending over 2 hours of a very interesting and enjoyable little tour!
