Side: Guided Quad Bike Riding Experience

It all started okay as the transfer was on time, so I’ll let off the one star as it’s not possible to give a zero. In the email we had the day before it said when we got there they’d sort out insurance. So, just for reference if anyone booking on this tour is expecting insurance, there isn’t any. The form was a disclaimer that if anything happens it’s not their responsibility. Fair enough, all signed. We were given helmets and guided onto which quad bikes to get on. I was placed behind the guide, my friend (female) was put on a quad bike behind me and the other female in the quad bike group was placed behind her. I followed the guide around the basic track a few times, then at the end was directed to pull up by the side of him. My friend (female) was directed behind me and another person (the only other female on a quad bike) was directed to pull up behind her. All the men were pointed to go into another line behind the guide. All the females were then all told we could not control the quad bikes so we had to either go with a guide or drive a buggy. We were not told why we were unable to control the quad bike but that the route of the tour was really difficult. When asked exactly what he meant by not being in control we were given no explanation, and told again we could sit behind a guide ‘free or charge’ or go in a buggy. I have driven quad bikes in Morrocco and Egypt and drive a motorbike in the UK. This was completely set up, they put the women at the front to then guide them off and tell them they couldn’t ‘control’ the quad bikes. We didn’t want to either sit being driven by a guide on be in a buggy (having booked a quad bike each). The other female opted to get driven by one of her male colleagues. We then had to wait for 1.5 hours before we could be taken back to the hotel in a blazing heat. We were completely ignored by everyone who was working there. When the tour got back we were told (by the male colleague) that the course they did was absolutely no different to what we were driving around before they set off. We did get an email when we were back at the hotel to say our money would be refunded, however I think this was only because they were concerned about getting a bad review and we booked through trip advisor so would ask for a refund.

Two hours riding on proper off road. Great value compared to the local looky looky organizations, and way cheaper than the tour reps . Clear communication from the booking,. Perfect on time pickup from our hotel. Excellent safety brief and trial ride around quad bike circuit. Clear instructions from the ride guides. Recommended

Loved this trip. Pick-up from the hotel, good training session before getting to go on a 20km ride. As a beginner, there was a good level of challenge and we went pretty fast in parts but it was really accessible for a wide range of people. The guides could be a bit friendlier but it didn’t detract from the fun of the quad biking.
