    In the afternoon, visit one of the biggest and proudest of the Tuscan hill towns, Montepulciano. This town was first under the dominance of medieval Siena and then became an ally to renaissance Florence: here you can recognize the influences of both Republics in its architecture and art. Located on a steep hill, you can look over the ledge at the the Tuscany - Umbrian border.

As you follow the main road down the hill, imagine how hard the “Bravio delle Botti” town festival must be: a competition between the neighborhoods of the town that race wine barrels from the bottom of the hill, all the way to the top. This was a fantastic day trip to take from Siena. Our guide, Georgia, was wonderful. She knew so many details about the Tuscany Valley and all the towns we visited. She took us to many fantastic lookout spots and gave us time to explore the towns on our own. Knowing some of that history helped us appreciate the area more. The farm stop had an amazing lunch with a cheese tasting, fresh salad and a bean and pasta main course. The views of the valley was amazing. Loved every minute of it. Thank you!

Guillermo was such an informative & accomodating guide. He enhanced our visit to these two towns with his deep knowledge of Italian history, giving us the proper context to appreciate the time capsules we experienced. Also, the side stops to enjoy extraordinary scenery & share cappuccino with our small group in a small village was an extra bonus. One more shoutout to Guillermo, we have done many Viator tours, and he was one of the best, seeing to everyone’s needs.

Our guide, Guillermo, was incredible. He was great at conversing with us and very knowledgeable about the places we were going. You can tell he really enjoys his job, and he made our trip so worthwhile.
