Had a great time hiking and camping with our guide Gede. It was just the three of us and he was very experienced and skilled, but was happy to wait for us to rest at points. The walk was a little harder than expected in the heat and the bed and meals are not luxurious but all worth it for the awesome experience. Might be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

I made a booking for a hike within 6 hours to go, the guide found some options for me and requested a deposit , more than 2/3 of the actual cost of the tour. The deposit was meant to be with WISE or Bank transfer. It took me 3 hrs to get verification financially through WISE to get this deposit to the guide. He did not have the correct SWIFT or IBAN number and finally the deposit failed. I offered to give the deposit in cash, if his online systems for required deposits were not sorted. However the guide told me to”go and book with another company”. Extremely unprofessional and doesn’t reflect self respect for his own business. At this point given it was only 2 hours before the hike, despite his comment, I still offered to upgrade the reservation to a higher price (which did not require a deposit), so I can have my experience. However he went ahead and CANCELED the reservation, and again told me to go and book with someone else purely because the deposit details he gave were incorrect. When I mentioned that this would be a review worthy customer service leaving me with no committed option 2 hours before the hike, he used words such as threats in his communication. In the end I found a lovely company that did the same tour for less money and no deposit! Moral of the story: do not use this company and if unhappy with something do not give up, you will find a better more competitive option!
