The Museum of Strategic Missile Forces is located in Mykolayivska oblast. During the Soviet period, this missile base was off limits to the public, and was managed by the 46th Red Flag Division of the Nijniodniprovska Missile Order of the October Revolution.
During the course of the tour you’ll have a chance to sit at the control panel and press the combination of keys that would have launched a nuclear missile! At present, the museum has more than 2000 items on display, and this number is constantly growing.

Excellent personal tour by English speaking guide Elena. Highlight was the original control room deep in the silo where you are able to simulate a missile launch.
0lWithin the site there are missile carriers, numerous trucks, tanks, a missile transportation train, attack aircraft & helicopter, as well as a range of missiles.
It came as a surprise to us the entrance / guide fee can only be paid in cash. Cards not accepted at time of our visit. This was somewhat inconvenient as cash reserves were low towards the end of our week in Ukraine.

This was a very interesting and dramatic museum, definitely worth the long trip. A lot of history is shown about past and still present conflicts with very good guides. My guide, Andrew Kalashnikov was beyond perfect in his attention, care and also provided some personal insight that definitely add to the experience of seeing this museum. On the way back, a stop on a very good and authentic restaurant was included which brought the day to a perfect end. All in all this has been a unique experience and a memory Im going to cherish forever. I’m not sure if this is possible, but if you can, ask for Mr Kalashnikov to be your guide. You won’t regret it.

I just have to write you to say that without doubt this is one of the finest tours I ever been on. One of my tour guides Nick is a fine young man. He went above and beyond to see to my needs and was courteous in every respect. From a rest stop that you guys bought my snacks, the drive there, everything was perfect. Lisa is an excellent tour guide. She is full of energy and Sweetness. Her knowledge of the base is superb. I will be back and when I do I want to get with you on other tours but I want to back there again.
The site itself is most interesting, giving a bone chilling look at what lay at the fingertips of two countries who literally held the worlds destiny in their hands. From the time you enter the grounds it is covered in history, entering the buildings, walking the tunnels to the silo, You get the feel of the cold war like never before, with guides who can explain and literate it as a story that captivates the mind. Then the elevator ride to the control station and to put your finger on the button that controlled fate and future is a moment you will never ever forget.
I also must tell of this happening, I wanted to continue my trip in Ukraine to Nikolaev, They took me to the bus terminal. Now, I must say I have never been treated with the care that they had for me in seeing me to the bus. They helped me get my ticket, stayed until the bus came and came on the bus to make sure I was settled before they would leave me. Nick even carried my luggage. No where at no time in my life was I treated any better than I was today. I will never forget it. And I will be telling everyone I meet about Ukraine, this group and their tours!!
Check these folks out))
