Alcatraz is worth the visit. It's actually a national park. We had perfect weather and the views of the city and Golden Gate Bridge can't be beat. The audio tour is very informative and held my kids' (ages 13 and 11) interest. We were there for the cell door demonstration which was interesting. The island is also a bird habitat, so some of the trails were closed due to nesting.

Great value! We didn't get a chance to take advantage of all the perks but did Alcatraz and the hop on hop off. Also, friendly staff and customer service!

Not very appealing smells and not maintained, rubbish lying around, construction work, not a great experience
