We know almost everyone is a puppy lover! Get ready for puppy overload because you're about to ride with a team of 16 powerful huskies many of which are veterans of the Iditarod! This is how their mushers keep them in shape during the summer season. Afterward, you'll cuddle with adorable Alaskan husky puppies that will one day grow up to be sled dogs themselves!     Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

  • All ages are welcome, and most special needs may be accommodated. Round-trip transportation provided. Must have mobility to walk 100 yards either on your own or with assistance. Must be able to raise knee 12 inches to accommodate (approximately 12 steps).

We thoroughly enjoyed the dog sled & musher's camp excursion we did this fall. Garrett was a great tour guide who so many interesting facts both relating to the dogs and about the area in general, and Maddie's presentation was fantastic! We loved getting to ride behind the older dogs and then loving on the puppies. We never felt rushed and had time to enjoy everything.

Was lots of fun the dogs are great, getting to hold the puppies was a wonderful experienc.. the ride to the top of the mountain was quite scenic.

Our helicopter tour to the Glacier and Dog Sled Camp was cancelled due to weather, but we were able to do this tour instead (we were on a Cruise), and this was a good alternative. The scenic drive to the Camp was awesome, in a new motor-coach. The time we spent at the training camp was informative and the ride on a training dog sled (a sled with wheels) was a nice alternative to actually mushing on snow/ice. The ride was a bit short considering these dogs are training to do 50-80 miles in a day - but it was fun nonetheless- We got to meet and greet each of the dogs that pulled our sled, and then got to visit some 6 week old future sled dogs - which was really a treat.... Our Guide was great - he has actually raced the Iditarod a couple times so he was very believable in what he was telling us. As always these tours are a bit rushed - it would have been nice to spend a little more time in the Musher's Camp and learning more about the dog sledding races and the small gift shop - but they do push a lot of tours through the camp each day so the time is limited. All-in-all a great experience - I would do it again and highly recommend it....
