We are Granville Island's pioneer (original) whale watching company. We offer intimate tours guided by marine naturalists who are passionate about wildlife and conservation. We do not attempt to influence the behaviours of the wildlife we encounter. Instead, we are able to observe animals behaving naturally and in their natural environment. The animals are never asked to perform. We contribute the data we collect toward marine based research and conservation initiatives. We are accredited as an authorized whale watching vessel and can legally approach wildlife closer than other vessels can, while still maintaining a respectful and safe distance.

  • Field guides, whale identification guides, and learning materials can be borrowed on board
  • Full length (arms and legs), one piece, anti-exposure flotation suit (to be worn overtop of your clothing)
  • We prefer that our guests bring a refillable water bottle (to save on single use plastics), but we carry extra bottled water on board just in case!
  • Single use ear plugs can be provided upon request
  • Ginger candy can be provided upon request for travellers that may be experiencing motion sickness
  • An optional gratuity for your guide and your captain is greatly appreciated by our staff
  • The journey can last up to 5 hours depending on where the whales are, so it is recommended that our guests bring their own snacks on board.

Wow! Amazing afternoon on the Zodiak. Very knowledgeable guide (Britt the Brit) and the boat captain was great. We watched and followed 2 Orca pods - saw 8 different ones including 1 calf…..plus we spotted at least 10 bald eagles including an entire family unit with a juvenile. Not to mention spotting a couple of sea lions and a whole colony of seals. Beautiful day, wonderful experience, and we would highly recommend it!

Had a great time. Staff was nice. Saw Killer Whales and one humpback Whale and sea lions. We went at the end of May. We did the Zodiac boat. The pros are small boat and less people. It was a bouncey ride but we thought it was fun and had good views. The one negative is the boat moves more when it is still versus a larger boat which makes it difficult to focus and take pictures. But I would book this again with the same company.

Great experience, together with 10 other people (12 total) we sat in the zodiac. We spotted a group of 8! whales which is very rare. Also some see lions and dolfins. Very knowledgeable staff eon board which tell you about animals, nature and so on. I would really recommend this trip
