Cannaregio is one of Venice’s most fascinating districts. Characterised by its long and wide canals, Cannaregio, which in the past was the home of many venetian painters, is still home of lively neighbourhoods. Considered the northern part of the city and the largest and most populated of the Venetian Sestieri, famous for the works of art of its churches and its oldest Jewish Ghetto in Europe. Crossed by the Cannaregio Canal, it's the only one in the historic center together with the Grand Canal which  is served by Steamboats Join  a private tour  in the morning or in the afternoon. La visita guidata ha reso molto interessante un quartiere che altrimenti sarebbe difficilmente comprensibile in autonomia. La storia del ghetto e degli ebrei veneziani e’ veramente interessante. Abbiamo avuto una guida bravissima, che da ebreo ha saputo spiegare con efficacia e completezza i luoghi che abbiamo visitato, sinagoghe comprese. Come valore aggiunto, grande simpatia ed auto ironia… Consigliatissima!

An absolute waste of time and money only got to enter one synagogue due to it being a Friday- no discount given as not able to enter the others and not advised before hand. The tour was given by a person with wet urine stains down his trousers and not very clear English- who was not Jewish and at €12 euros a person to basically enter one synagogue seemed pretty insignificant when most churches in Venice are free to enter. Not recommended avoid!
