    Your guide will show you extensive kooyang (eel) traps, stone channels, remnants of ancient stone house sites and kooyang smoking trees. Then travel around 20 mins to the next location.

    See ancient Budj Bim volcanic crater, now Lake Surprise, take a guided bush walk of the park and go inside one of Budj Bim’s lava caves. Then travel around 20 mins back to the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre.

Seeing the ancient aquaculture system with its eel traps, holding ponds and smoking trees was truly extraordinary. Jayden was a terrific guide - a great story teller. And the stone huts will blow your mind!

What a fabulous experience! We really enjoyed our half day tour with Jayden (?). He was a fabulous guide who shared so much of his people's culture, history and beliefs; truely informative. We visited some wonderous sites and gained a much better understanding of the history of this part of indigenous Victoria. Returned to the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre/Cafe for a fabulous lunch (tasting plate) whilst enjoying the views out over Tae Rak (Lake Condah). Highly recommend the tour. You won't be disappointed.

It was really special to hear all the stories shared and being able to explore the different areas used, such sacred spaces that need to be protected and respected. Would love to do a full day tour in the future to learn more. The bus rides were a bit long in between stops.
