Steve is a master tour guide. He took the time to learn about our interest in order to maximize our Vermeer experience. After leading us through the City of Delft, pointing out many sites in detailed fashion we headed to The Hague. Upon arrival we went to a quality food stand where we learned to eat herring in the true Dutch fashion, swallowing it in one bite.
As we were Touring the City Steve pointed out a government minister passing us in the street. Shortly after he noticed some military police ahead in the street. Based on his instincts we joined a small crowd of Dutch citizens as King William Alexander emerged from the palace and waved to us as he entered his motorcade, not more than 100 yards from us.
Steve then took us on an in depth tour of the Mauritshuis. He took great care to point out many details of the various masterpieces. The tour culminated with Vermeer’s masterpiece, Girl with the Pearl Earring. We got to spend some time within a few feet of this classic painting.
A great experience with a master tour guide. We highly recommend this tour, if you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of the King!!
