If your pickup location is not present in the selection box, please send the address to the tour operator. Please note that transfer from and to the hotel counts into the tour's total time. Therefore, sometimes it is better to meet the guide in the city centre, rather than spend the time transferring from the far-located hotel.
Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy), Warsaw, Poland After the transfer, you start to explore the Warsaw Old Town on foot (cars are not allowed there). The first part is Castle Square, where the guide introduces you to Poland and Warsaw; it’s actually the exact spot where the first settlement was built around 700 years ago. 15 minutes
King Sigismund's Column (Kolumna Zygmunta), Warsaw, Poland It's a first public-civil monument in Warsaw, it represents a Swedish king standing on a top of a pillar. Sounds like a joke! 5 minutes
Zamek Krolewski w Warszawie - Muzeum, Warsaw, Poland Royal Castle (without visiting interiors)
Świętojańska 8, 00-278 Warszawa, Poland After admiring the Royal Castle and Swedish king standing on top of a column, you move deeper into the Old Town. Try to focus on the details - Warsaw Old Town got destroyed in 1944, but some original elements were found in the rubble and placed back at their original locations. On Świętojańska street, you find St John’s Cathedral - it’s the first church in Warsaw and a place where the remains of the last king of Poland are buried. It’s an excellent place to tell one history of the first republic in Europe. 20 minutes
Gnojna Gora, Warsaw, Poland Kanonia street, Gnojna Górka - these are just some of the many places you will visit on this tour. 10 minutes
Rynek Starego Miasta, Warsaw, Poland The most representative part of the Old Town is the Market Square. Surrounded by colourful and prestigious tenement houses filled with restaurants: it’s an excellent place to slow down, take a breath and investigate the story of the Warsaw mermaid. If you’re lucky enough, you will meet a Warsaw’s barrel organ player and listen to (very) old top hits. 15 minutes
Warsaw Barbican (Barbakan Warszawski), Warsaw, Poland Defence walls ring the Old Town, and the remaining gate is called Barbakan; this is the next part of this tour. On the way back to Żuk minibus guide shows you the remaining parts of the original city walls and tells you the story of the post-WWII reconstruction of Warsaw Old Town. 15 minutes
Monument to the Warsaw Uprising Fighters, Warsaw, Poland On the way from The Old Town to Pilsudski sq. the tour passes a couple of monuments dedicated to Warsaw Uprising, a revolution from the year 1944.
Grob Nieznanego Zolnierza, Warsaw, Poland Back in the car, you see more of Classic Warsaw: a couple of monuments dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising; significant structures like Garrison of Warsaw, National Opera House, and Piłsudski Square with prestigious hotels and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This was a fantastic tour that really gave us a great historical summary of Poland especially from the partition forward. Our guide, Adam, was really knowledgeable and engaging. I would highly recommend this for anyone with only basic knowledge of what Poland has been through. We had a deep appreciation of that after this very personal tour.
