Der Oberste Gerichtshof der Vereinigten Staaten ist das oberste rechtsprechende Staatsorgan der Vereinigten Staaten. Neben diesem obersten Bundesgericht existieren auf Ebene der Bundesstaaten Oberste Gerichtshöfe. Interessant ist: Der Supreme Court besteht aus neun Richtern, die nach Nominierung durch den Präsidenten vom Senat bestätigt, und danach auf Lebenszeit ernannt werden. Für uns in Europa undenkbar als Richter auf Lebenszeit ernannt zu werden.

The Supreme Court was unfortunately closed during our visit to Washington ,but the Library of Congress was open and what a beautiful building it is , the interior is an architectural splendor
