    The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (TRSHC), located in Lebong and locally known as Hermitage, was founded on October 2, 1959. Zhu Dan established this centre in 1959 with funds raised through local charity (wife of Gyalo Thondup). Initially, the facility provided emergency relief to Tibetan refugees who had made the perilous journey across the Himalayas into India. For Tibetans, the Hill-side held special significance because the Thirteenth Dalai Lama had spent his exile in India from 1910 to 1912, following the Chinese invasion of Tibet at the time. The centre was established as a charitable organisation under the Indian government's act. The centre began with just four employees and now houses 130 Tibetan families.The centre has been involved in a variety of activities, including handicrafts, artisan training, and craftsmen.

This trip has made the most out of our visit in Darjeeling! Abhishek was really responsive to our requests even-though it was a very late booking for next day starting at 4 am to visit tiger hill. Our driver and guide Sonam is a really good driver and speaks very well English. This trip is totally recommended for first timer in Darjeeling!

We had an excellent tour to Darjeeling. It was one of our best tour with "Gren Escape Tours and Travels" and we all are exceptionally happy with the way it was organised. I would like to thank "Green Escape Tours and Travels" and exceptionally Mr. Abhishek Chettri for organising this tour for us very efficiently. My family and I joined the day tour. Most of the tourist destination in Darjeeling like Tiger Hill in the morning were included in the tour, so we were satisfied.
