Taste olive oil at the source at Melissakis Olive Oil Mill. Learn how olive oil is made and about the quality levels of olive oil. Next tour our family estate in the mountains of Chania. Your host, Vasili, is a beekeeper and winemaker. Taste wines directly from the barrel. Then suit up and visit the bees, find the queen, and learn how honey is made. Next enjoy a light lunch in our own vineyards with a view of the Lefka Ori mountains.

One of my favorite days in Crete. Vasilis was fun, informative, energetic and laid back all at the same time. He and the tour helped create wonderful memories, which I will tell over and over again. We were lucky enough to have his mama Tammy wander out to the lunch with us. After meeting her. I can see where Vasilis gets his charm from.

We arrived home this week from a lovely holiday in Crete. A big highlight was our day spent with Vasili where we learnt so much, including how olive oil is made and how to milk a sheep to make cheese which was unexpected but so interesting! We tried his lovely wine and made a beautiful lunch in the heart of his vineyard which was something we’ll never forget. Thank you for welcoming us to your family home and showing us so much. If you’re thinking of booking then do it!!

This tour was absolutely amazing. It’s a small group and Vasili is lovely!! We were able to learn all about olive oil, rearing sheep in the mountains and making cheese, honey and bees, and of course, wine (including picking some grapes, because it was September)!! The lunch overlooking the mountains and the vineyard was awesome! I would do this tour again in a heartbeat and plan on it when I’m back in Crete!! Do not hesitate to book this to learn more about what it’s like in the villages of Crete from locals!
